Department: Development

Reports To: Chief Advancement Officer

Status: Full-time, exempt

Position Description Summary: The Director of Development will oversee our donor relations program and manage major fundraising initiatives. In collaboration with the Director of Foundations and Corporate Giving and the Marketing and Communications Director, this person will lead development efforts as DOROT continues to grow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing DOROT’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a strong development team for our organization. This position involves managing individual gifts as well as the planned and annual giving campaign.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, oversee, and execute DOROT’s annual fundraising campaign
  • Create and execute a strategy for digital fundraising
  • Solicitation of major gifts
  • Plan and execute all cultivation and fundraising events, including Annual Spring Benefit
  • Oversee Direct Mail strategy and work with consultant
  • Create and execute a strategy to identify and cultivate major donors
  • Maintain ongoing communications and relationships with donors
  • Take the lead on the management and planning of donor cultivation and fundraising events
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop print marketing collateral related to fundraising
  • Supervise the Development Associate
  • Other duties as assigned by CAO

Required Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Development
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree (a plus)
  • Constituent relationship and cultivation experience
  • Ability to identify mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Experience with major donors a must
  • Experience with online donations, use of direct mail, and event planning are essential
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated track record of positioning an organization to achieve measurable outcomes in a competitive environment
  • Command of the fundamentals of business communication, planning, and budgeting
  • Ability to simultaneously lead multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time pressure with minimal supervision
  • Strong collaboration, time management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with the field of aging, social isolation, volunteerism and/or intergenerational programming is a plus
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software is essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
