About Connect Through Tech:

The Connect Through Tech department improves social connectedness for elders who engage from their homes with a portfolio of departmental programs including classes through our online and teleconference University Without Walls, Russian University Without Walls, and Support Groups. DOROT recognizes that as technology plays an increasingly central role in all aspects of society, the oldest members of our community struggle to gain the skills they need to remain socially connected and access information and services they need for successful aging. DOROT is developing a new program to provide individual technology coaching to older adults in their homes, onsite at DOROT and at other community locations. Volunteers will be trained and supported to coach older adults to gain the skills necessary to enter and use the digital world.

Position Description Summary: The Program Administrator will assist the department Director with all logistics of implementing curriculum, executing the program rollout and subsequent expansion, and managing all day-to-day administrative needs of the program. This includes, but is not limited to, the training and ongoing support of volunteers, as well as providing stellar customer service to our valued clients and volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the production of curriculum, coaching plans and resource materials
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of volunteer training, collaborative learning and ongoing support
  • In collaboration with the Volunteer Services department, recruit and screen potential technology coaching volunteers
  • In collaboration with other DOROT departments, develop and implement outreach strategy to reach potential clients and volunteers
  • Manage successful onboarding process for new volunteers, and assist in the design and implementation of volunteer supports, evaluation and continuing training. Manage assessment and enrollment of clients into the program, including matching them with a volunteer and scheduling coaching sessions
  • Duties may include home visits to clients to assess tech needs or to observe and support volunteers
  • Establish a communication calendar and manage regular and engaging communications and inquires with program clients and volunteers
  • Work with social work staff to arrange for additional supports and services to clients when needed.
  • Supervise office volunteers and/or interns as needed
  • Plan and oversee occasional on-site events (including a limited number of Sunday or evening events)
  • Assist Connect Through Tech colleagues as needed

Required Qualifications:

Work Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience in education, training and development or tech support
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree may be substituted for years of experience.)
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • High comfort level and technical expertise with a range of devices (mobile, tablets and/or computers), operating systems and applications e.g. social media, apps, email :
  • Experience in training others on the use of technology, especially novice computer learners.
  • Knowledge of educational design and computer platforms and applications that enhance learning
  • Proactive and detail-oriented
  • Flexible mindset with ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
  • Enjoys the process of teaching and seeing the progress and benefits to the learner
  • Strong organizational, administrative and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to technology
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with staff
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience working with volunteers and adults 65 and older, or other novice computer learners preferred
  • Excellent data entry skills and knowledge of databases, Salesforce experience a plus
