How did you get involved with DOROT?
 
My friend Marilyn, a DOROT supporter, often spoke of DOROT and the wonderful ways in which they help seniors and homebound adults. When I retired, I became a volunteer.

What type of volunteer activities do you do?
 
I started working in the University Without Walls office, and never left. I have also been a Friendly Visitor and have worked the Thanksgiving Banquet, preparing for and serving and entertaining DOROT’s guests.

In what ways has your DOROT volunteer experience impacted your life?

For me, it’s a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment knowing the impact I’ve made in our clients’ lives, and sharing my life with DOROT. There is always a welcoming smile on the faces of the staff. I know how happy the clients are when I talk to them, confirming classes for University Without Walls and evaluating new classes and facilitators. I get a warm feeling at the same time, hearing the smile on their faces when they hear my name and voice.
