Status: Part Time, 21 hour per week

About DOROT Westchester: Since 2004, DOROT’s Westchester programs have effectively combated social isolation among older adults in the county with food deliveries, weekly volunteer visits, intergenerational Shabbat celebrations, youth programs, and teleconference classes and support groups.

Position Description Summary: DOROT Westchester is poised for growth. The Social Worker will work with seniors as well as recruit for and manage volunteer opportunities and programs. Reducing isolation for older adults is a significant goal of our programs and services as are intergenerational programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-home client assessments and annual reassessments
  • Recruit, screen, interview and orient volunteers for DOROT programs and services, supporting a double digit increase in volunteer participation
  • Increase awareness about DOROT throughout Westchester County
  • Liaise with DOROT’s Volunteer Services Department to coordinate the annual Cemetery Visit program for Westchester, Holiday Package Deliveries and other collaborative volunteer opportunities
  • Attend meetings at DOROT and in the county as needed
  • Work on special projects and duties as assigned by Director

Required Qualifications:

  • LMSW required
  • 3-5 years of professional social work experience
  • SIFI certification preferred
  • Experience working with older adults a plus
  • Experience working with volunteers a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and clinical skills
  • Strong group facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proven record of program development and relationship building
  • Knowledge of aging and community resources in Westchester County a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 2010
  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and the use of a car
