More than 600 volunteers and seniors have been paired to date for Caring Calls, DOROT’s new program bringing warmth, conversation and social connection to older adults in isolation due to COVID-19.
Volunteers are matched with DOROT elders for phone visits once or twice a week over a four-week period. The calls take the place of in-home visits that were suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a significant and meaningful opportunity for intergenerational connection and friendship.
Seniors are encouraged to join the program. To participate, please call DOROT at (212) 769-2850 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the incredible response to this program from prospective volunteers, we have paused new volunteer registration for Caring Calls at this time. However, DOROT is able to offer other activities for volunteers. Please sign up below to receive notifications about these opportunities as well as updates about Caring Calls.
