The Interpreter, the first novel by the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David K. Shipler, is a beautifully written story set in the final days of the Vietnam War based on Shipler’s own experience as a war correspondent. Known for his deep reporting, Shipler served as Bureau Chief for The New York Times in Moscow and Jerusalem and is the author of the classic Arab and Jew: Wounded Spirits in a Promised Land as well as eight other books.
