Playmakers is American Jewish history—and it is a family story. Distinguished sociologist Michael Kimmel, whose family founded the Ideal Toy Corporation, writes of relatives Morris and Rose Michtom, who invented the Teddy Bear in the back of their candy store. They and other first-generation American Jewish toymakers created an idealized American childhood. This program is part of DOROT’s Bookmarks series, moderated by award-winning journalist and author Sandee Brawarsky.
