For Yom HaShoah, Artist/Scholar-in-Residence Jeanne Golan will perform the music of Viktor Ullmann (1898-1944), a leading composer of his generation. “By no means did we sit weeping on the banks of the waters of Babylon, and our endeavor with respect to the Arts was commensurate with our will to live.” This is how Ullmann described his internment at Terezin. His music is autobiographical, accessible and pays honor to the past by quoting music from Mozart to folksong as well as drawing from contemporary poetry.

This session takes place both in person at DOROT Manhattan and online over Zoom.
