Older adults and teens will meet over three weekly sessions to engage in Story Circles. A Story Circle is a group of people sitting in a circle (a virtual circle over Zoom), telling personal stories, led by a Story Circle facilitator. Each Story Circle will have a different theme and every session will start and end with an informal gathering and mingling. Join us to gain experience as a storyteller by telling personal stories in a supportive group!
About the Facilitator: Elijah Wong is a Program Coordinator in Intergenerational Engagement at DOROT. He is also a singer, lyricist, and performance artist whose autoethnographical work explores the interstitial spaces of inner-city knowledge, violence, and eros. He worked for over a decade at Rikers Island providing counseling and post-release services for court-involved youth. He earned his B.A. in Critical Race Theory with a focus on Black and Asian American Studies from Sarah Lawrence College.
NOTE: All participants must attend all workshop sessions, Wednesdays, September 3, 10, and 17.
If this is your first time participating in DOROT’s Intergenerational Program, you will be asked to attend an orientation.
