As we continue Volunteer Appreciation Month, we’re traveling to DOROT Westchester to celebrate Shoshana!

Shoshana Bederman has volunteered with DOROT Westchester for several years. She’s volunteered with a plethora of programs including, Friendly Visiting, Package Delivery, Telephone Friends, Caring Calls, and most recently, a facilitator for Tables & Tea, Westchester’s monthly game day for older adults.

We’ve asked Shoshana to share a little about herself and what motivates her to volunteer. Read her reflection below:

“I was born in Israel and came to the U.S. at age 12. Upon completing high school, I attended college and received a degree from NYU and another from Cardozo Law School. Following graduation, I worked as a prosecutor of abuse and neglect of children for the NY City Administration for Children’s Services. After retiring, I founded an organization that educated and empowered high school students to stand up to antisemitism on college campuses.

DOROT has a special place in my heart. I love the connections I’ve built with DOROT seniors. I believe I get more than I give because of the wonderful people I meet, and the bonds and friendships I form with DOROT seniors.”
