Mark Meridy
Executive Director

Mark has been the Executive Director of DOROT since 2009 and is responsible for the overall leadership, management, resource development, and strategic positioning of the organization. As a leader in the field, Mark was recognized as one of the “2024 Nonprofit Power Players” by Politics NY and as a “Nonprofit Trailblazer” by City & State Magazine. In 2022 he received the “Empire Whole Health Heroes Award.”
Mark has appeared on MSNBC, CBS Morning News, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and NPR’s “The Takeaway” to discuss the devastating consequences of social isolation and loneliness. In 2023, Mark was elected to the Board of Directors of Generations United and became a Board Member of the Foundation for Social Connection—Action Network in Washington, DC in 2025. He has participated in New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s Master Plan on Aging Workgroups and Senator Kristen Gillibrand’s Workgroup on Aging.
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree from American University as well as a master’s degree in Public Administration, and he has a certificate in Gerontology from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Mark also participated in the Institute for Executive Leadership at Columbia University’s Business School.
