About Legacy Projects

Share and preserve your stories, memories, wisdom, and beliefs, while cultivating an enriching relationship with a trained DOROT volunteer. You will share your story, and your volunteer partner will help to craft the project, in your voice, relying on your input every step of the way. Projects can take many forms—written narratives with photos, scrapbooks, cookbooks, letters, audio or video recordings—the sky’s the limit!

Legacy Projects are offered four times per year (winter, spring, summer, and fall) with up to 15 spots available per session. Projects take about 6 – 8 weeks to complete. After the project is completed, we invite Legacy Project participants and volunteers to gather as a larger group to share what they have created together.

In-Home or Online

This program is offered two ways. For those living in DOROT’s service area in Manhattan or in Westchester, a volunteer can come to your home. Or you can choose to work with a volunteer online from wherever you may live.

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful the Legacy Project was. My volunteer was amazing and brought out memories and ideas that were instrumental in every aspect of its development.

Thank You
