A Different Kind of Volunteer Experience

DOROT’s intergenerational programs are a way for volunteers 65+ to form meaningful connections with high school students and youth. You’ll meet at DOROT’s New York headquarters for activities that appeal to a wide range of interests—theatre, art, current events— as well as simple get-togethers where you can chat and share a cup of tea. Be a role model for teens while enriching your days in our vibrant intergenerational community.

About the Workshops

These weekly sessions range from programs focused on making theatre, having discussions, exploring new music, and more. Some programs include Jewish content.

Workshops range from 60 – 120 minutes for 4 – 7 weeks, once or twice a week. Each session will build upon the previous one, so plan to be there for all of them.

How Registration Works

Adults 65+ can register for the workshop(s) that best fit their interests and schedule after completing an orientation and paperwork—including a background check. They must commit to at least one workshop a week. Returning participants can register directly for workshops by emailing us at sharemywisdom@dorotusa.org.

High school students go through a highly selective process and intern with DOROT for a semester. They participate in many programs as part of their internship.
