Cemetery Visits

Offer older adults a sense of security and understanding in visiting the cemetery to pay their respects to loved ones. This is your opportunity to have an extraordinary impact on their lives.

Volunteers for this unique program provide physical and emotional support, from help navigating the walk through the cemetery to the sharing of memories. Visits are carefully planned – DOROT staff arrange car service transportation, train volunteers and provide cemetery maps and other helpful tools.

Cemetery Visits take place on two Wednesdays in June. Volunteers gather at DOROT at 8:30 AM. After breakfast and orientation, they take pre-arranged car services to pick up registered older adults. Most volunteers assist two seniors visiting the same or nearby cemeteries. Cars typically return to DOROT by 2:00 PM.

Here’s what Cemetery Visit volunteers have to say about their experience:

“The visitors I accompanied were all incredibly grateful to DOROT for arranging the day. Although it is never an easy day for all, I could see it brought a lot of comfort and peace.” – Sarah C

“This is the most well-organized, best thought out volunteer activity I have ever participated in (and I volunteer a lot!)” – Baylor F.
