About Tech Coaching

Did you know that older adults who are confident using technology remain more socially connected and independent?

As a volunteer Tech Coach, you’ll provide one-on-one support to older adults as they learn how to stay in touch with friends and loved ones, access information, and gain comfort with everyday technology. You’ll also make a connection that will enrich your life.

To be a Tech Coach, you simply need to be patient, comfortable with basic functions on computers, tablets and/or smartphones, and enthusiastic about helping older adults. We provide an orientation and training. No special expertise is required!

Ready to learn more? Sign up for an upcoming Tech Coaching orientation.

What Else to Know

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome individuals 18 years old or older as Tech Coaches.

Time Commitment:

We ask that Tech Coaches volunteer 1-hour a week for a minimum 3-month time period.

Requirements:

Volunteers will need to present a valid US government-issued photo ID, attend a short orientation, submit references, and pass a background check. Volunteers must have the  ability to volunteer in person in Manhattan (Upper East Side and/or Upper West Side) or in Westchester County.

It’s never just about figuring out a specific technical challenge, it’s very much about the connection that naturally occurs between people in the context of working on a common problem.
