Friendly Visiting

This is your opportunity to form a special bond with an older adult. For more than 40 years, DOROT’s Friendly Visiting program has created thousands of meaningful and mutually beneficial friendships between volunteers and DOROT older adults.

Volunteers elect to make either weekly home visits or monthly home visits plus a monthly call. During the visits, volunteers and older adults share conversation, opinions, hobbies, walks in the neighborhood and other experiences. DOROT staff matches each older adult and volunteer pair based upon mutual interests, availability and geographic convenience. Our program model also utilizes DOROT social workers, who provide training and support to both the volunteer and older adult for the duration of their relationship.

Ages: 18+

Time Commitment: Weekly visits or a monthly visit plus a monthly call with a one-year minimum commitment.

Requirements: Valid US government-issued photo ID, volunteer orientation, an application, interview, references and background check.
