Delegation from China visits DOROT
On Wednesday, May 21st, five representatives from the People’s Republic of China came to DOROT to learn about our mission and program model, with specific emphasis on our program for homeless seniors. The group, which included the Deputy General Director of the Department of the Social Assistance, the Director of the Division of Medical Aid and a program officer from the Department of International Cooperation and Office for Refugee Settlement, all a part of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, visited DOROT’s headquarters and the Homelessness Prevention Program. The issues and challenges facing older adults were discussed, including healthcare, homelessness and the detrimental effects of social isolation.
DOROT was honored to share its expertise on aging and volunteerism with the delegation while they were on tour meeting with government officials and non–profit organizations in the U.S. and Canada. DOROT has also welcomed delegations from Japan and Greece.
