About the Connect Through Tech Department: The Connect Though Tech (CTT) Department leverages technology to provide programs to older adults that support social connections and help them access the resources and information they need to live independently in an increasingly digital world. The CTT department includes DOROT’s long-standing teleconferencing program-- University Without Walls (UWW), which connects older adults to a vibrant community of learning and friendship while exploring topics on arts, literature, health, current events, support groups and more. Programs in Russian language are available as well. The CTT’s growing portfolio of programs will focus on teaching and coaching older adults to learn and adopt technology. Unique to DOROT’s approach is its strong volunteer base and individualized approach to engaging older people, in their homes and onsite at DOROT.

Position Description Summary: The Program Coordinator will support the development and implementation of an exciting new initiative that will bring individualized technology coaching into the homes of older adults. The goal is to provide older adults with the technology tools that will enable them to expand and enrich their social connections and to increase access to resources that support their independence as they age.


Curriculum Development
  • Develop training curriculum and materials, including step-by-step instructions for participants and trainer guides for one-on-one, volunteer provided technology coaching
  • Evaluate, refine and update materials ensuring incorporation of best practices for training older people
  • Identify and create new topics to add to the menu of training options
Engagement and Support
  • Strategize on and coordinate the development of a community of support for volunteers and participants including online and in person strategies
  • Develop and adapt information and materials in response to learning needs
Administration & Operations
  • Establish and manage systems that support the logistical, administrative and communication functions of the program
  • Assist with the evolution of the program from pilot to implementation
  • Coordinate with Volunteer Services on outreach and transition of in-home help desk visit program
Technology Initiation and Review
  • Coordinate the incorporation of new technology tools for departmental programs or improve existing technology tools, such as the teleconference system
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of experience working in a technology-related role
  • Proven track record of teaching, training or coaching others on technology
  • Experience developing new initiatives or rolling out new technology
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Training and curriculum development experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers or acting in a volunteer capacity preferred
  • Availability for five to ten Sunday and/or evening events.
