Teens and adults will discover the art of storytelling through comics!
In this intergenerational workshop, you will share, discuss, and create comics. Explore your favorites –from classics like Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes to modern hits in the DC, Marvel, Star Wars and manga Universes. Create your own storyboard through a simple, guided process—covering character design, layout, and drawing techniques so that you can create your own print or digital comic. No prior experience needed!
About the Facilitator: Anu Annam is a celebrated teaching artist and professional artist. They founded and lead the arts-based organization, SEA of Visibility (SEA=Support Expression thru the Arts), which engages the community at the intersection of arts and mental health through multidisciplinary visual art exhibitions and performances. Its education program features the E•STEAM Curriculum (Empathy • Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) that Anu designed over the course of their 20+ year teaching career, which brings new skills to participants while fostering friendship, connection and understanding within and across communities. Anu is excited to bring their teaching practice to the DOROT intergenerational community of lifelong learners.
All participants must attend all workshop sessions – 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, and 11/19.
If this is your first time participating in DOROT’s Intergenerational Program, you will be asked to attend an orientation.
