About Cemetery Visits

For over 40 years, DOROT has been privileged to support older adults in visiting the gravesites of their loved ones, providing a meaningful opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and connection. These visits offer a deep sense of comfort, allowing older adults to honor cherished memories and feel a continued bond with those they have lost.

Our dedicated and compassionate volunteers accompany older adults, offering both physical assistance and heartfelt emotional support. Whether it’s lending a steady hand, sharing in quiet moments of reflection, or simply providing companionship along the way, our volunteers help make these visits a truly meaningful experience.

When and Where Visits Take Place

Visits occur during the summer months to cemeteries located in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey. As part of this program, DOROT provides car transportation to and from the cemetery.

These visits are very meaningful to me, and I am unable to do them without your help. You provide very important assistance and opportunities for the seniors of this city. I am very grateful!

Thank you

DOROT is deeply grateful to The Barbara and Bentley Kassal Foundation for leadership support of our Cemetery Visits program. We are also appreciative of the ongoing support and partnership of Plaza Jewish Community Chapel.
