Volunteer as a Tech Coach
If you’re comfortable using everyday technology, you can help an older neighbor develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate our digital world.
About Tech Coaching
Through one-on-one Tech Coaching, older adults and volunteers meet to tackle all kinds of common tech questions—and have a good time doing it. Trained volunteers meet with older adults in their homes for three to eight visits to work toward technology goals together. (See below for one-time sessions at DOROT.)
Coaching sessions can cover all sorts of topics—email, Zoom, social media, searching the Internet, downloading apps, and more. Volunteers can help with phones, laptops, tablets, or computers. Unfortunately, we cannot address hardware and IT issues through DOROT’s tech coaching programs.
Tech Coaching Meetups
If you’re only looking for a one-time coaching session on a specific issue, you can attend a Tech Coaching Meet-up at DOROT. Check our calendar for upcoming dates.
Want to Become a Tech Coach?
You don’t have to be a tech whiz to help an older adult master basic technology. We’ll train you in how to be an effective coach, and you’ll discover that the best part of the experience is the relationship you’ll both enjoy as you conquer tech challenges together.
My Tech Coach was fantastic. Not only did she help me, it turned out to be a delightful afternoon and conversation.
