DOROT's Caring Calls program brings joy to older adults and volunteers alike.
Weekly Recurring

A friendly phone call can make all the difference. As a Caring Calls volunteer, you’ll share warmth and friendship with an older adult over the phone, making an impact on their life and your own.

How It Works

After completing a brief onboarding process, you’ll be paired with an older adult for a weekly, 20 – 30 minute phone call over eight weeks. At the end of the eight weeks, you’ll have the option to extend your time together if you’re both interested. Wondering what you’ll discuss? The purpose of these calls is to socialize and chat about interests, experiences, hobbies, memories, and more. It’s a great opportunity to share wisdom and friendship.

Ready to Volunteer?

To participate as a Caring Calls volunteer, you’ll need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid US government-issued photo ID. You’ll also be asked to provide references and undergo a background check. Volunteers can participate from wherever they live in the U.S.

Are you a new volunteer? Sign up for an upcoming Volunteer Orientation and Information Session.

I absolutely love my volunteer experience! It’s been such a meaningful opportunity to connect with an elderly individual, and we’ve developed a special bond as we share our stories and experiences.
